Who is Jesus, Really? A 7-Part Journey to The God who Names you Equal: Part 5

Women in the Master's Eyes

From the first pages of Scripture to the last, women are not an afterthought in God’s story.

“So God created mankind in his own image… male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28

Restoring the True Name
For many, the assumption is that Christianity sees women as second-class citizens. It was one of my own deep woundings from the church that sent me on a decade-long tour as an atheist.

But what if that belief has been fueled by cultural distortions, misuse of Scripture, and centuries of empire-minded religion that often placed women beneath men in value and voice? Not perhaps from the Heart of God Himself?

If you go back to the beginning. In Hebrew, when God made Eve, He called her ezer... this was a word used for a strong helper, rescuer, or ally. The only other times ezer appears in the Old Testament, it refers to God Himself as the helper and defender of Israel. This was not a label of weakness. It was a title of divine partnership.

Jesus carried this view into His ministry in ways that defied the culture of His day.
He spoke to women in public; scandalous then.
He welcomed them as disciples; unheard of.
He entrusted the news of His resurrection to women first; the greatest announcement in history was given into their keeping.

In a culture where women’s testimony was not even admissible in court, Jesus treated women as trusted witnesses of the Kingdom. He did not just see them. He named them, called them, and sent them.

Grace is not only about cancelling debt. It is also about restoring identity. In the eyes of the Master, you are not “less than.” You are an ezer; a vital ally in God’s work.

How would you move through the world if you fully believed Jesus saw you as a trusted ally in His mission?

Blessed is the woman who lets the Master rename her. She is no longer bound by labels of smallness or shame. She walks as an image bearer, an ezer, and a witness to the Kingdom that has already begun.
